November 26th, 2020|

Do you use transport in Melbourne’s Eastern region?
Arup has been engaged by Department of Transport on behalf of the Eastern Metropolitan Partnership to investigate demand responsive transit solutions for Melbourne’s Eastern Region*.
A key part of this process is to seek feedback from the people who live, work and/or visit Melbourne’s Eastern region. The following 15-minute survey has been created to gain your insights into usage and opportunities for the community and public transport networks in the eastern region.
Arup greatly appreciate your time and contribution to this engagement, and encourage you to forward this link onto others local transport users who you believe could assist our investigation.
This survey will close Monday 7th of December.
* Melbourne’s Eastern region for the context of this engagement is inclusive of the suburbs within the following Local Government Authorities: Knox, Manningham, Maroondah, Monash, Whitehorse and Yarra Ranges.

ACTA Aged Care Position Paper

September 10th, 2020|

Position Paper – Realising wellness and reablement of ageing Australians: the enabling role of community transport and ongoing need for block funding

Australian Community Transport Association (ACTA) is the national peak body for the community transport sector.

The Association was formed in January 2011 and comprises representatives from across Australia to provide a national voice for community transport.

Current and future Aged Care reform presents community transport in Australia with a range of challenges. These reforms, some of which have been in place since February 2017, are moving toward a more consumer-driven system of aged care provision, similar to that of the NDIS.

For the time being, a range of services continue to be block funded under the long-standing provisions of the CHSP; transport is one of those services.
ACTA has assessed that the proposed changes to the aged care transport funding model would risk the sustainability of the sector.

ACTAs Position Paper enclosed aims to clearly identify the real-life risks associated with the removal of block funding. It identifies that a change to the current funding model would create significant risk in that consumers of community transport nationwide would lose this much relied upon service and place substantial pressure on the aged care system and state and territory infrastructure, ultimately reducing the consumers’ ability to connect with health services and social activities.

Further information about ACTA can be found at www.australiancommunitytransport.org.au

Yours sincerely

Lyndon Stevenson Chairman, ACTA Board and Terry OToole, Deputy Chairman, ACTA Board

R U OK?

September 9th, 2020|

R U OK?

Thursday 10 September, is an important day with R U OK Day and World Suicide Prevention Day.

The message this year is ‘There is more to say after R U OK?‘. A conversation can change a life. You don’t have to be an expert to keep the conversation going when someone says they’re not OK. By knowing what to say you can help someone feel supported and access appropriate help long before they’re in crisis, which could change, or even save, their life.
